VWPD to cite vehicles parked too long

Because of the record amount of snowfall this year, a number of vehicles have not been moved for longer than seven days and are now surrounded by a large amount of snow.

These vehicles are making it difficult for the Van Wert Street Department to plow and clear the streets and are hampering traffic flow, especially for emergency vehicles.

Due to the traffic-related issues caused by this, the Van Wert Police Department will begin issuing citations on Friday, February 14, for all vehicles in violation of the City Ordinance 76.17  (parking on city streets for seven consecutive days prohibited). This is minor misdemeanor violation with a bond amount of $125.

All residents are urged to comply with the ordinance prior to the Friday enforcement date.
