County Young Artists Recital this Sunday

Submitted information

The annual Van Wert County Young Artists Recital will be held this Sunday afternoon in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert.

For 11 years, The Van Wert County Foundation has been sponsoring and organizing this event, which showcases the finest talent of Van Wert County high school music programs. This year, Van Wert and Lincolnview high schools have participants.

Local high school students will perform both instrumental and vocal solos and ensembles. Two weeks ago, these students competed at the Ohio Music Educators Association Solo & Ensemble Contest held at St. Marys Memorial High School. Based on their performances and musical ability, their music teachers recommended them to perform on this recital.

Fourteen performances will be showcased during this recital, featuring a total of 21 student musicians from Lincolnview and Van Wert High School band and choir programs.

The Van Wert County Foundation is a charitable foundation formed for the purpose of soliciting and receiving charitable contributions that are then invested in educational, religious, and charitable purposes mainly in Van Wert and Paulding Counties. The Foundation supports over 200 students each year in scholarships and invests in other worthy school projects such as the young artists recital.

The recital begins at 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Students will receive a certificate of performance and will be honored with a reception in Kraut Chapel of First U.M. Church immediately following the recital.

The public is encouraged to attend and support these fine, young musicians.
