Local film foundation to host bake sale
The Northwest Ohio Film Foundation will hold a bake sale to raise funds for the inaugural Van Wert Independent Film Festival (VWIFF) on Saturday, April 23. The bake sale will take place at Chief Supermarket, 221 Summit St. in Celina.
This is the third event hosted by the Northwest Ohio Film Foundation to help create local awareness for the upcoming film festival that will take place at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center July 7-10 of this year. The 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is also hosting its “Launch” fundraiser dinner at the Van Wert Banquet and Convention Center on April 9, with tickets on sale now. The Foundation has also screened classic films for free at Soulbridge Vineyard; Citizen Kane on March 18, with classic “B movie” Plan 9 From Outer Space following on Friday, April 1.
The Northwest Ohio Film Foundation is the main supporter of the new Van Wert Independent Film Festival. It aspires to raise awareness and funds from around the community to promote the culture of cinema through screenings, workshops, events, networking and the promotion of the future filmmakers and media artists from the NW Ohio region, with the VWIFF serving as the main event, in hopes to give an avenue for artists to shine where they may not have had the chance. This includes technical artists, actors, musicians, writers and all movie lovers young and old from around the world.
The Van Wert Independent Film Festival will be held July 7-10 at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert, with intentions to become an annual event that will bring tourism dollars to the area from patrons globally.
