Harry E. Baker

Harry E. Baker, 92, of Van Wert, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born September 26, 1921, in Paulding County, the son of the late John A. and Mintie T. (Hover) Baker. On November 25, 1942, he married Marjorie I. (Cryer) Baker, who survives in Van Wert.

A daughter, Judith A. Merkle; four brothers, Roy, Russell, Delmer and Francis Baker; and three sisters, Myrtle Feasby, Nellie Beezley and Dorothy Gibson, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, with graveside military honors performed by the combined units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 that evening.

Preferred memorials: Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center or a charity of donor’s choice.
