WBESC board approves employee raise

The Western Buckeye Educational Service Center Governing Board approved a small wage increase for employees during its March meeting at the Van Wert ESC office.
Employees received a 1-percent base salary increase for the 2014-2015 school year.
Also during the meeting, the board accepted the resignation of Karla Treece as special education director and extended a one-year contract to her as a part-time school psychologist, effective the 2014-2015 school year.
The board also approved an amended contract for Kara Beers at the bachelor’s degree plus 150 hours salary step.
The board also non-renewed the instructional position at Divine Mercy to be in compliance with the state auxiliary allocation and approved a budget revision for the Fiscal Year 2014 Parent Mentor Grant and FY 2014 Ohio Children’s Trust Fund grant.
Prior to taking action, the board received a report on the WBESC’s current financials from Treasurer Kim Jones and Assistant Treasurer Linda Clark and an update from Superintendent Brian Gerber on legislative issues, personnel items and WBESC activities.
A public hearing was held on the proposed re-employment of Chris Feichter following her retirement. No one attended to comment.
The board also approved WBESC continuing as fiscal agent for the Paulding County Family and Children First Council from July 1 through June 30, 2015.
The next meeting of the WBESC Governing Board will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the Paulding ESC office.
