Doris Marie Sites
Doris Marie Sites, 80, of Rockford, died at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born January 15, 1934, in Ohio City, the daughter of the late Noah Asa and Mary Ruth (Williamson) George. On April 6, 1956, she married Ole Sites, who preceded her in death on December 22, 1999.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Lutheran Church of rural Celina. She was an active volunteer at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford and in her church.
Survivors include four daughters, Susan (Leonard) Holdcraft of Bucyrus, Sarah (Rick) Curry of Mansfield, Shirley (Kevin) Kirkendall of Lucas and Sandra (Doug) Grooms of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, Jacob Kirkendall, Jessica (Randy) Patton, Collin (Katie) Grooms, Taylor Grooms, Scott Curry, Dorothy Dudley, David Holdcraft, and Paul Holdcraft; one great-great-granddaughter, Trinity Dudley; five sisters-in-law, Eileen (Earl) Klosterman of Tavares, Fla., Ruth Sites of Celina, Ruthie Sites of Rockford, Martha Van Winkle of New London, Iowa, nd Betty and John Sites of Celina; and one “adopted daughter,” Phyllis (Cary) Giardullo of Cincinnati.
Two brothers, Arthur and David George, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at St. John Lutheran Church in Hopewell Township, Mercer County, with the Rev. Karen Tamorria officiating. Burial will be in Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina.
Friends may call from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford.
