COLUMBUS — State Representative Tony Burkley (R-Payne) presented the boys’ basketball team from Crestview High School of Convoy with a resolution honoring their Division IV State Championship win.

The undefeated Crestview basketball team took on St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday, March 22, for the state championship game.

Crestview came out victorious with a 71-44 win. Their speed, stamina, and up-tempo style of play contributed to their big win. The team was up 26-23 at halftime, but started the second half with an uninterrupted 18-point run, helping them cement the state title early on.

“I applaud these young men and their state championship victory,” Rep. Burkley said. “They’ve witnessed the possibilities that come to those who work hard and I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”

The team’s coach, Jeremy Best, returned the favor to Rep. Burkley by giving him a Crestview basketball shirt with the names of every teammate listed on the back.
