Teen charged after school drug searches

At the request of Van Wert City Schools and Van Wert Life Links, the Van Wert Police Department conducted a surprise Police K-9 Search for narcotics.  Assisting with the search were K-9 Teams from the Van Wert County Sheriff Department, Celina Police Department, Coldwater Police Department and the Auglaize County Sheriff Department. The K-9 Teams searched the school locker areas along with the parking areas.

One arrest was made at Van Wert Life Links of an 18-year-old student for possession of prescription drugs, a misdemeanor of the first degree. The student was issued a summons and court date. The student was then released.
