Two people were sentenced and one person had his surety bond revoked during hearings held Wednesday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

Tyler Kast, 22, of Van Wert, was given three years of community control, with up to six months in the Western Ohio Regional Treatment and Habilitation (WORTH) Center in Lima, during his sentencing on a charge of vandalism, a felony of the fifth degree.

Kast was also ordered by Judge Charles D. Steele to pay $141.41 in restitution to the victim in the case.

Nicholas Bendele, 31, of Van Wert, was given three years of community control, including 30 days of electronically monitored house arrest, or jail if he doesn’t qualify, on a fifth-degree felony drug possession charge. Bendele also had his driver’s license suspended for six months.

Also Wednesday, Christopher Britt, 24, of Van Wert, had his personal surety bond revoked for failing to report to the Van Wert County Adult Probation Department, as per his bond requirements. Judge Steele then set a $10,000 cash bond in the case.
