David James Stevens

David James Stevens, 73, of Van Wert, died at 1:18 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born February 3, 1941, in Decatur, Ind., the son of the late James Howard and Viola (Heath) Stevens. On July 21, 1962, he married Stella Jane (Siders) Stevens, who survives.

Other survivors include a son, James Clayton (Elizabeth) Stevens of Van Wert; one daughter, Tammy Kay Stevens of Van Wert; three brothers, Donald W. Stevens and Gayle L. (Karen) Stevens, both of Van Wert, and Gary P. (Connie) Stevens of Ohio City; two sisters, Janella D. (Don) Lovellette of Syracuse, Ind., and Sharon K. Norman of North Manchester, Ind.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

A sister, Mabel Gibson, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Dan Custis officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the funeral home.
