Lancers edged by Continental in baseball

CONTINENTAL — The Lincolnview baseball team played hard, but was edged by Continental 5-4 in a non-conference game played Tuesday at Continental.

The Lancers drew first blood with three runs in the top of the fourth inning, but it didn’t take Continental long to respond as the Pirates came back with four runs in their half of the fourth to take a one-run lead in the game.

Continental added another run in the sixth inning and then held off a Lancer rally in the top of the seventh that added one run to the Lincolnview total.

Derek Youtsey led the Lancers offensively, going 2 for 3, while Austin Leeth was 2 for 4 for Lincolnview.

Kyle Williams took the loss for the Lancers, pitching all six innings and giving up five runs, only one of those earned, on four hits, while walking four and striking out four batters.
