Mark Allen Gillette

Mark Allen Gillette, 47, of Van Wert, died at 10:56 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born February 4, 1967, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the son of Delores A. (Debacher) Gillette, who survives in Van Wert, and the late Franklin LeRoy Gillette. On April 29, 2014, he married Samantha (Carpenter) Gillette, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include six children, Brayden Michael Gillette, Destiney Dawn Gillette and Megan Ann (Mike) Keipper, all of Van Wert, Jasmine Ann Paul of Rockford and Kristie Allen Gillette and Kyllee N. Gillette, both of Celina; a stepson, Christopher David Carpenter of Van Wert; seven brothers, Marky Gillette of Van Wert, Frank Gillette Jr., Bob Gillette, Gary Gillette, David (Pam) Gillette and Tom (Trisha) Gillette, all of Ottawa, and Mark Gillette, no address listed; three sisters, Michelle Lee Foster of Van Wert, Connie (Steve) Parr of Hopewell and Barb Hazelton of Ottawa; and three grandchildren.

A son, Cody Michael Gillette, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Lance Hostetler officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the funeral home.
