Knights 6th, 7th at league track meet

SPENCERVILLE The Crestview boys were sixth and the girls finished seventh at the Northwest Conference Track & Field Championships held at Spencerville High School.

For the Knights, the boys’ team ends its regular season at 18-23 overall, while the girls end the season at 6-24.

Columbus Grove won both the boys’ and girls’ titles, while Bluffton was second in the boys’ competition, and the host Lady Bearcats were runners-up in the girls’ competition.

Top finishers for the Crestview boys included Mycah Grandstaff, who finished first in the 3200-meter run in a time of 9:38.38, which is both a school record and league record. The boys’ 4×200-meter relay team (Hansard, Kline, Oliver, Jellison) finished second in a time of 1:38.50, while the 4×100-meter relay team (Schaffner, Oliver, Jellison, Kline) was third in a time of 45.96 seconds, and the 4×800-meter relay team also finished third in 8:58.95. The 4×400-meter relay team (Hansard, Cunningham, Jellison, Kline) was third in 3:34.96.

Individually, Zack Jellison finished third in the 200-meter dash (23.36 seconds), Malcolm Oliver was fourth in the long jump (19 feet, .25 inches), Isaiah Kline had a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash (55.12 seconds), Scott Miller was seventh in the shotput (42 feet, 2 inches) and eighth in the discus (123 feet, 11 inches), Dylan Grandstaff finished eighth in the 800-meter run (2:13.46), Charles Thornburg was eighth in the 1600-meter run and Dylan Grandstaff finished eighth in the 800-meter run (2:13.46).

For the girls, Grace Callow was third in the 400-meter dash (1:03.87) and 200-meter dash (27.81 seconds), and finished fourth in the 100-meter dash (13.49 seconds). Bekka Tracey was third in the discus (100 feet, 9 inches) and eighth in the shotput (29 feet, 2.25 inches), Jamie Moore was third in the pole vault (8 feet, 4 inches), Deanna Wells was sixth in the 100-meter dash (13.89 seconds), Tommi Andersen was sixth in the long jump (13 feet, 6 inches), while Courtney Trigg was seventh in the discus (80 feet, 9 inches).

Crestview will be competing this week in the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s district track & field tournament in Spencerville on Thursday and Saturday, with the top four event winners and relay teams advancing to the regional tournament in Troy next week.
