Date set for Beacon of Hope fundraiser

The family of the late Nancy L. Warden-Bachman will present a decorative lighthouse in honor of families served by Community Health Professionals’ Hospice, at CHP’s annual “Beacon of Hope” dinner/auction on April 7, at 6 p.m., in the Van Wert Banquet Center (formerly JEHMMS).
Bachman was married to Paul E. Warden (who passed away in 1996) and Don Bachman (who died in 2005). She was a homemaker and mother of eight children and a member of the Van Wert American Legion Auxiliary, Van Wert Elks, Moose and TWIG II. Bachman was cared for by CHP’s in-home and inpatient hospice programs.
The Warden-Bachman family’s lighthouse will be displayed at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, along with those presented in past years. A local family is chosen each year to represent all families who have received hospice care. The lighthouse symbolizes the hope, comfort and support provided by hospice when a loved one is facing a terminal illness.
The Beacon of Hope dinner/auction is the main fundraising event for CHP’s hospice program and is an evening of remembrance and fun. It will be emceed once again by Rick Small of Mix 98.1 FM in Defiance, while Bob Gamble will conduct the auction.
The event includes both live and silent auction items and concludes with a cash raffle drawing for $1,000; $500 and $250 prizes. Tickets for the dinner/auction are $20 each and raffle tickets are $1 each, six for $5, or 15 for $10. Tickets are available at Community Health Professionals, 1159 Westwood Drive in Van Wert.
