Community Concert Band to play in park

On Friday, July 18, the Van Wert Area Community Concert Band will present a concert in the band shell in Fountain Park in Van Wert, starting at 7 p.m.

Music performed on the concert will be new and contain a wide variety of musical genre to include Big Band hits “String of Pearls”, “Night Train”, and “Riffin’ the Blues”, 1950’s style selection “Greasy Kids Stuff”, music of the Beatles, The Association and Righteous Brothers, selections from the movie Frozen, a unique march in honor of the Lincoln Highway and “Trumpets Ole”, featuring the band’s trumpet section.
Amy Roth, a music major at Miami University, will be the featured vocalist, while a food stand will be available starting at 5:30 Friday evening, with food provided by Eastern Star.
Join the band, which is directed by Richard Sherrick and features members from Van Wert, Elida, Lima, Delphos, Spencerville, Convoy, Payne, Chattanooga, Middle Point, and Rockford, for this entertaining concert.
In the event of inclement weather, the program will be canceled.
