Joseph Philip Showalter
Joseph Philip Showalter, 76, of Grover Hill, died at 4:38 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville, Tenn.
He was born April 24, 1934, in Cloverdale, the son of the late Simon Sylvester and Marie Violet (Campbell) Showalter. On September 5, 1953, he married Norma Jean (Pratt) Showalter, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Showalter worked as a trackman for Norfolk & Southern Railroad and also as a minister. He was also a member of Hendricks County Senior Center in Indiana and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees (railroad).
Survivors include six children, Peggy Jo (David L.) Showalter Smith of Coatesville, Ind., Donald Eugene (Cindy Sue) Showalter of Grover Hill, Ervin LeRoy (Sheree Lynn) Showalter of Faubush, Ky., Mark Luther (Pamela) Showalter of Waynesburg, Ky., and Raymond Philip Showalter and Kathy Sue Showalter, both of Van Wert; one sister, Stella Rosella Winters of Florence, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Mary Warnecke; and two brothers, Erwin T. Showalter and Virgil Vaughn, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Don Donnelly officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery in Grover Hill.
Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at the funeral home.
