Meyers Wren Homecoming grand marshal

Wren Homecoming information

WREN — The Wren Homecoming Committee recently named Martha Meyers as the 2014 Wren Homecoming Parade grand marshal.

Meyers currently resides in Wren, having come to live in the village more than 60 years ago.  She has seen many changes occur in her adopted hometown, from the development of the Wren Fire and EMS Department, to the building of a new post office, and the growth of downtown Wren.

Meyers has been a longtime member of the Wren Garden Club, and was an active member of the Wren Historical Society. In her more than six decades in the community, Meyer has seen families move into Wren, some move out, and children grow up and have children of their own, but one thing seems to remain the same over the years in small communities such as Wren: the word “neighbor” still means something, and a helping hand is never far away in a time of need.

Come celebrate the foundations of the Wren community during this 2014 Wren Homecoming celebration the third weekend of August. Activities for all ages have been planned, with the Wiffleball Tournament taking place at Wrenway Park and the annual Wren Pancake and Sausage breakfast at the fire department Saturday morning — don’t miss the Homecoming Parade, at 4 on Saturday afternoon.
