Klinger excels as Lancer girl golfers win
Lincolnview girls’ golf information
The Lincolnview Girls Golf team hosted the Lady Lancer Golf Invitational that began this past Monday, but was postponed and concluded on Friday. Seven teams were able to return to Hickory Sticks Golf Club, with two individuals also competing for the team title and individual medalist honors.
The Lancer linksters dominated the field with a great score of 385, besting the second place Fort Recovery Indians (422) by 37 shots.

Hicksville (425) took third place finish, edging out the Lady Raiders from Wayne Trace (428), while Parkway (433) pulled away from Celina (440) to take fifth place, while the Bulldogs had to settle for sixth place in the tourney. Antwerp rounded out the team scoring with a 443.
The 38 golfers vying for the individual title had sunny weather and wonderful golf conditions. Lincolnview junior Mikenna Klinger dominated the playing field, though, firing a one-under-par 71, which is now a new school and 18-hole tournament record.
Klinger’s score was highlighted by a double eagle on the par-5 No. 15 hole, as she sank one from 165 yards for the rare feat. Klinger was steady on her round, posting two birdies to go along with four bogeys. Defiance senior Annebelle Weisgerber took runner-up medalist honors with a fine score of 78, while Terra Walls of Parkway shot an 88 for third place and Kelly Stahl of Celina was one shot behind with an 89.
Four players – Emilee Phillips, Tori Vaughn, Gracie Gudakunst and Haley McGillvary – posted scores of 93 to finish in fifth through eighth place. Rachael Schroeder of Hicksville and Jonna Walls of Celina each shot 94 for ninth and tenth place.
In addition to Klinger, those competing for the victorious Lancers were sophomore Makenzie Kraft (96), sophomore Macala Ashbaugh (111), sophomore McKenzie Davis (107) and Madison Shepherd (143). Marissa Miller was unable to compete this Friday, as she had to support the Lancer cheer squad that finished in second place at a competition.
The Lady Lancers were coming off an eighth-place finish in the Defiance Invitational and a sixth-place finish at the Celina Invitational.
The Lancer girls will play again at the Mercer County Elks this Thursday as they take on Coldwater.
