OTTAWA — Led by the Hernandez duo, Brandon and Jared, the Van Wert varsity golf team traveled back from Ottawa-Glandorf with a Western Buckeye League win by a score of 178-195.

Brandon shrugged off an opening double bogey to card a 41, while Jared was red-hot early with three birdies and ended up match medalist at 39.

Other Van Wert contributors were Daniel MaGowan and Gabe Rollins with 48 and 50, respectively, while Jacob Covey carded a 53 and Carter Eikenbary had a 66 for the day. The Cougars play their home opening match against Lima Shawnee at 2 p.m. at Willow Bend Country Club.
