Lincolnview cross country information

DELPHOS — The Lincolnview Lancer cross country teams traveled to the Delphos Blue Jay Invitational on Saturday.  The varsity boys finished one point behind New Bremen to place second with a score of 49 points.  The varsity girls placed fifth.  The junior high boys nearly swept the meet, placing five runners in the top six positions and winning the meet easily. The junior high girls placed sixth.

In the varsity boys’ race, Bayley Tow was the individual runner-up, placing second in 16:55. Also in the top 10 were Alex Rodriguez, who finished fifth; and Trevor Neate, who placed ninth overall.

“We had some good things happen today, but we also took a few steps back in some places,” said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon. ”It was a very close race the entire time with New Bremen; they finished stronger than we did and that made the difference. They are a very good team and, hopefully, the next time we race them we will be able to make the adjustments necessary.”

In the varsity girls’ race, Anna Gorman placed 14th overall and teammate Abbie Enyart placed 17th and freshman Alena Looser was 22nd.

“It was a good start for our girls program,” Coach Langdon said. “We only have five returners from last season, so the rest of the team is new to high school cross country.

“We now need to learn what it takes to be competitive,” the coach added. “For the most part, many of the girls we were just trying to survive the race today. Hopefully, we can begin to change that moving forward.”

Calahan Wolfrum won the boys’ junior high race and Karter Tow placed second. Placing fourth, fifth and sixth were, respectively, Alek Bowersock, Sam Myers, and Sterling Rigdon.

Lana Carey placed 13th overall and Victoria Snyder 28th in the junior high girls’ race.
