Cougar golfers down Elida in WBL match

The Cougar golf team improved its Western Buckeye League record to 2-3 by beating Elida 176-181 at Willow Bend Country Club on Tuesday.

The Cougars did so with balanced scoring, with player scores bunched up from 42-45. Gabe Rollins and Jacob Covey had their career best scores at Willow Bend with a pair of 45s. The Hernandez brothers came in at 42 (Brandon) and 44 (Jared) — good for second and third place, respectively, in the match. Elida senior Jimmie Ebeling carded a 40 to take the match medalist.

The Cougars go on the road Thursday to take on league leader Lima Bath.
