Cougar golfers lose WBL match to Celina

CELINA — The Van Wert golf team continued its Monday doldrums, shooting a 191 at the Fox’s Den to lose by 15 strokes to Celina in a Western Buckeye League match-up.

Van Wert had one bright spot in freshman Jared Hernandez, who shot four-over 40, with two birdies, in the nine-hole round. Celina had a pair of golfers shoot 39s to tie for match medalist honors.

With the loss, Van Wert falls to 2-5 in the WBL while Celina moves  to 4-3.

The Cougars host Defiance this Thursday at Willow Bend Country Club.
