“Summer Scenes” is competition theme

“Summer Scenes” will be the competition theme in prints and slides when the Wassenberg Camera Club meets Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Wassenberg Art Center. With such a broad title, just about anything that took place during the summer months could be submitted whether it usually takes place in the summer or not.

It could be similar to what happened at this year’s Van Wert County fair’s photography exhibit. One of the categories was “Reflections”.  The word reflections could be also be equated with “memories” which explained why some of the photos did not include a reflective surface. This should be interesting.

Photographers planning to enter pictures in the Wassenberg’s 37th Annual Photography Exhibit are reminded that a jpeg digital image of each picture to be entered, entry form, and fee are to be received by the Art Center by Friday, Sept. 12, either by Email to: photos@wassenbergartcenter.org or by regular mail or in person to 214 South Washington St., Van Wert, Ohio 45891. Digital pictures are to be sized at 1000 pixels on the longest side at a resolution of 200.  They are to be named in the following manner: your lastname.first name.title.category number. jpg.

The minimum sized visible print this year is 25 united inches (one length + one width) which is a new rule. This means, for example, that a 11″x14″ print would be the smallest size to be entered. Prints do not have to be made however, until you receive acceptance notification by Saturday, Sept. 27.  You would have until Thursday, Oct. 2, at 5 p.m. to deliver the framed photographs to the Art Center.

A free public opening reception with free food, spirited beverages, live music and an awards presentation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. Please join us and celebrate the art of photography!

The club’s next regular meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Wassenberg Art Center. “Summer Scenes” will be the competition theme in prints and slides.  Members submitting slides are reminded that they need to resize them to 1024 pixels in a jpeg file, and rename them as: Summer Scenes. Title. your name. jpg before emailing them to President Chris Wilson at vwcameraclub@gmail.com by Tuesday, Sept. 9.
