Our exhibit, The Symphony of My Heart, art postcards by Iowa artist, Saffron Goetschius, amounted to a staggering 500 cards and are now hanging from the Wendel Gallery trusses. We’d like to thank Terry & Verona Eikenbary, Gabe McConn, Travis Tribolet, Nic Byron, Saffron, Britt Noethen and Cat Fribley for all their hard work in getting the items arranged and hung up! Each assemblage twists and moves with air movement and creates one of the most interactive exhibits we have hosted. Mail art is typically collages of mixed media placed on a post card, with instructions to the post office to hand cancel. Each card is mailed as-is and was sent through the mail to my mailbox. Thank you to my mail carrier! During the last week of the show, artist Saffron encourages visitors to cut down a postcard they find meaningful and take it home. Pamela Purmort and Jayne Smith also created the tasty gourmet food that was served at the reception. This exhibit is on view through Sept. 28.

The 37th Annual Photography Exhibit will open on Oct. 4 at 7–9 p.m. with awards being presented at 8 p.m. Help us ring in this compelling exhibit which is taking place for the first time in our new space! As with all our exhibits and receptions there is no charge to attend and we even feed you. Live music will be provided by Jason Grieshop and That Lousy Band. A cash bar will be available.

Watercolor Techniques class continues on Tuesday mornings starting at 10 a.m. This is an ongoing class is taught by Pat Rayman. Persons are encouraged to jump in anytime and the class is sold in monthly increments. $35 for members and $40 for non-members.

ArtReach will be returning to the Wassenberg Art Center in October! Stay tuned, details very soon!
