“Fall Scenes” bring out colorful images

The Wassenberg Camera Club met Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Wassenberg Art Center for its monthly competition in prints and slides as well as to conduct club business.
The competition theme, “Fall Scenes”, produced a sizable group of colorful fall images. First place in prints went to Joe Schramm’s photo of a farm in the rolling hills of Holmes County Ohio. First place in slides was awarded to Jan Sorensen’s view of a wooded lane leading to Lake Loramie. Barb Jewett’s humorous photo of two girls dressed in Halloween garb placed second.
Vice President Stuart Jewett described an LED light bank that was adjustable both in brightness and color temperature. Such controls make it possible to match existing light and provide just enough illumination for fill. It can also be used as a primary light source matching the camera settings you wish to use. He volunteered to give a demonstration,

It is not too early for area photographers to consider entering pictures in the ArtSpace/ Lima Photography Club’s Annual Juried Exhibition. To learn the details of entering, do a search for www.artspacelima.com. In the left column, click on Photo Exhibit 2015. Scroll down to read the prospectus or a little further to find a printable version. If you continue on down, you will find answers to Frequently Asked Questions.
The categories for this exhibit are: Animals, Architecture, Black and White, Landscape, Miscellaneous, Plants, Portraits, Special Effects and Still Life. You may enter seven pictures, but no more than two per category for a fee of $5 per member, or $7 for non-members. Pictures will be accepted Dec. 6 and 7 from 1-5 pm at the ArtSpace facility at 65-67 Town Square in Lima. We’ll add more details as time goes on.
The club’s next regularly scheduled meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Wassenberg Art Center. The competition theme in prints and slides will be “Illustrating the Rule of Thirds.” Jan Sorensen will present a program on “Still Life.”
Be sure to stop by the Wassenberg Art Center Tuesday through Sunday from 1-5 p.m. to see the current 37th Annual Wassenberg Photography Exhibit, which will be on view until Nov. 2.
