Knight boy runners qualify for regionals

OTTAWA — The Crestview boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Division III District meet at Ottawa on Saturday.

The girls’ team ran well and wrapped up its season with an eighth place team finish. The Lady Knights were led by Ashley Bowen, who placed 10th overall to earn All District honors and qualify as an individual at the Northwest Regional meet in Tiffin on Saturday.

She was followed by scoring teammates Hali Finfrock (33rd), Mattie Watts (41st), Brooke Ripley, and Nevada Smith (53rd).

The boys’ team turned in a strong performance to place fourth and qualify as a team to the Northwest Regional Meet in Tiffin on Saturday.  Mycah Grandstaff was second overall to earn All District honors.  He was followed by Branden Clayton (17th), Adam Saylor (20th), Charles Thornburg (25th), and Cody Mefferd (39th).

The boys’ team will race at 11 a.m. in the Tiffin Regional meet, while Bowen will compete at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
