J. Eleanore Hattery

J. Eleanore Hattery, 96, of Van Wert, died at 2:37 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born August 20, 1918, in Venedocia, the daughter of John Albert and Chloe (Wright) Williams, who both preceded her in death.

On September 7, 1940, she married Kenneth E. Myers, and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1965. On October 18, 1969, she married Carl Hattery, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include a son, David E. (Rosewitha) Myers of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Jerald (Kathy) Myers, Kenneth (Barbara) Myers, Robert Myers, Edward (Tonia) Myers and David (Pepper) Myers Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Willard and David Williams; and two sisters, Ruth Arzate and Elizabeth Bechtol, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hattery retired in 1983 as a sales clerk from J.C. Penney in Van Wert after 34 years of service. She was a former member of Psi Iota Xi sorority, enjoyed square dancing and traveling with the YWCA.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 26, at the funeral home.
