Cougar swim teams lose to Bryan squads

BRYAN — The Van Wert High School boys and girls swimming teams traveled to Bryan High School to compete in a dual meet. Both Cougar teams lost a hard-fought battle against the Bryan Golden Bears: girls 125-53 and the boys 107-74.

Swimmers placing first in individual events included Josh Overholt (50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke), Sam Easley (200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle), and Tyler Rex (100-yard freestyle).

Two Van Wert relays finished in first place:

200 freestyle relay: boys (1:38.56 –Sam Easley, Cade Fleming, Josh Overholt, Tyler Rex)

400 freestyle relay: boys (3:50.35 –Sam Easley, Tyler Rex, Cade Fleming, Nathan  Ireland),

The Cougar swimmers will compete again Thursday when they host Ottawa-Glandorf and St. Marys in a double dual meet.
