Crestview board reorganizes for 2015

CONVOY — The Crestview Local Board of Education met on Monday during its regularly scheduled meeting and annual organizational meeting and recognized board members.
On behalf of School Board Recognition Month, Superintendent Mike Estes awarded each member of the board with a certificate. The board also chose John Auld as president and Mike Schlagbaum as vice president during the organizational meeting. Lonnie Nedderman, current Vantage Career Center Board of Education president, was also chosen as Crestview’s representative to that board.

Later in the meeting, the board accepted the resignation of Steve Sealscott as middle school track coach and approved Allison Reindel as his replacement for the 2014-2015 school year.
Also approved was the Crestview Indoor Track Club as a school club sport, along with volunteer coach James Lautzenheiser.
The board accepted, with thanks, the following donations: a $1,122 donation for needy children, Klein Trust of the Van Wert County Foundation; a $1,300 grant for the music department, Oscar and Norma C. Feigert Fund of the Van Wert County Foundation; a $500 donation for the eighth grade trip, Convoy United Methodist Church Adult Fellowship Class; a $100 donation for needy students, St. Paul’s RCA Women’s Fellowship; a $1,000 donation for Rachel’s Challenge, given anonymously; and a $523.30 donation to help with seniors’ outstanding fees, given anonymously.
Estes also gave an update on the school’s calamity days situation. Crestview has used four days so far, and will conduct a Saturday class session for any days missed after using six calamity days, the superintendent noted.

- Approved renewal of the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) annual membership.
