The Lincolnview Board of Education met on Wednesday for its organizational meeting, as well as its regularly scheduled January meeting. Eric Germann was re-elected president while Michelle Gorman was chosen as board vice president.

As part of School Board Recognition Month, Superintendent Jeff Snyder acknowledged individual board members and presented each member with a certificate.

Snyder also thanked Eric Miglin, technology coordinator, for all of his hard work with the district’s computers for the upcoming testing, as well as with the new BoardDocs® software program that will allow the board to go “paperless”, like Van Wert, Crestview and Vantage have already done.

In addition, Snyder thanked Treasurer Troy Bowersock for his help, as well as Judy Dotson for assisting with the templates. A “thank you” was also given to BoardDocs for its presentation.

The board also approved its final payment of $235,521.92 to the Ohio School Facilities Commission for the facilities project begun a decade ago.

Also Wednesday, the board accepted the resignation of Brad Doidge, assistant softball coach, and then approved Doidge as head softball coach for the 2014-2015 school year. Also approved was a supplemental contract for Pamela J. Carter as a substitute bus driver for the remainder of the 2014-2015 school year.

The board accepted, with thanks, several donations including the following: $1,194 second half 2014 donation from the Klein Trust of The Van Wert County Foundation; a $100 needy student donation from St. Paul’s Reformed Church Women’s Fellowship; and a $1,500 donation for the continuation of the Heritage Scholarship Fund, with payments to be made according to the donor letter, given anonymously.

Also approved by the board was the Educational Tax Policy Institute (ETPI) membership of $500. Board  Germann said that, in his opinion, the membership would be a good investment.

During his buildings and grounds report, Snyder also announced that the district’s new John Deere tractor has finally arrived and has already been put to good use with the recent snowstorm.

The next scheduled Lincolnview Board meeting will take place Tuesday, February 17, at 7 p.m. in the Neubrecht Lecture Hall.
