Columbus Grove dominates Lady Lancers

COLUMBUS GROVE — The Columbus Grove Lady Bulldogs got a fast start over Lincolnview, outscoring the Lady Lancers by 12 points, 27-15, in the first half en route to a 67-38 Northwest Conference victory.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Jade Clement’s 14 points, while Lynea Diller (13 points) and Paige Bellman (12 points) were also in double figures. Carly McCluer almost reached the double-digit plateau for the Bulldogs, scoring 9 points in the game.

Lincolnview had two players in double figures, led by Julia Thatcher’s game-high 15 points. Ashton Bowersock added 11 points, while Hannah McCleery scored 8 points in the game.

‘Grove led by three points, 11-8, in the first quarter, and led by 17 points, 51-34, at the three-quarter mark before going on a 16-4 run in the final stanza to close out the game.

The Bulldogs were 23 of 39 from the field (59 percent), while making 5 of 11 three-point attempts (45.5 percent). Lincolnview was 12 of 39 from the field (30.8 percent) and 0 for 5 from three-point range. Columbus Grove made 16 of 19 free throws (84.2 percent), while the Lady Lancers were 14 of 22 at the line (63.6 percent).

The Lady Bulldogs outrebounded Lincolnview, 24-16, while the Lancers also had seven more turnovers (23-16), than ‘Grove.
