Alta E. Zinn

Alta E. Zinn, 93, of Van Wert, died at 8:34 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born February 9, 1921, in Hoaglin Township, the daughter of Albertus “Bert” and Caroline (Akom) Bashore, who both preceded her in death. On October 27, 1946, she married Gale Willard Zinn, who died June 1, 2010.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Linda) Zinn of Atlanta, Georgia, and Bruce Zinn of Van Wert; a daughter, Connie (Gordon) Rauch of Cridersville; one brother, Christie F. Bashore of Rockford; two sisters, Louise Leiter and Alice Thomas, both of Van Wert; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A brother, Johnnie A. Bashore; and two sisters, Matilda E. Smith and Thelma Neuhauser, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hoaglin Township.

Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. Monday, January 19, at the funeral home.
