Lady Lancers down Antwerp in NWC tilt

The Lincolnview Lady Lancers defeated Antwerp 41-29 in a Northwest Conference girls’ basketball game played at Lincolnview.

The Lady Lancers were led by Hannah McCleery’s 16 points, while Julia Thatcher scored 11 points for the victors. Rachael Williamson was Antwerp’s top scorer – and the only one in double figures – with 10 points.

Lincolnview led 10-4 at the end of the first quarter and the Lancers were up by 11 points, 19-8, at the half. That lead would go to 15 points at the three-quarter mark, 32-17, although the Lady Archers rallied in the final stanza to get the Lincolnview lead back to 12 by the end of the game.

Neither team shot well from the field, with Antwerp making 10 of 30 from the field (33.3 percent) and the Lancers a dismal 15 of 52 (28.8 percent) from the field, including an 0-for-7 night from three-point range. Both teams shot much better from the free-throw line. The Lady Archers were 6 of 8 at the line (75 percent), while Lincolnview made 11 of 14 free throw attempts (78.6 percent).

The Lancers dominated on the boards, bringing down 33 rebounds to 22 for Antwerp, but had six more turnovers, 13-7, than the Lady Archers.
