Karla J. Dix

Karla J. Dix, 69, of Van Wert, died at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.

She was born January 26, 1946, in Van Wert, the daughter of Karl and Jeanne (Blanke) Laemmle, who both preceded her in death. On April 23, 1966, she married Jerry Dix, who preceded her in death on March 25, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters, Wendi (Scott) Creed of New Haven, Indiana, and Tricia Dix of Van Wert; two grandchildren, Kaytlyn and Taylor Creed of New Haven; and 10 brothers and sisters, Ron Butler of Niceville, Florida, Bruce R. Butler of The Philippines, Sue Hawkey of Yellow Springs, Mike (Connie) Butler of Van Wert, Doug Laemmle of Van Wert, Terri Hopkins of Lima, Charles Dix of Greenfield, Indiana, Kathy Dix of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Betty Stieglitz of Harlan, Indiana, and Paul Dix of Churubusco, Indiana.

Her father, Ray Butler; one sister-in-law, Nancy Dix Worden; and her father- and mother-in-law, Carroll and Alice Dix, also preceded her in death.

Karla spent her life ministering to the needs of others, first as an LPN in the Van Wert County Hospital Emergency Room and then as a paramedic with Brickner Ambulance Service in Van Wert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Monday, February 9, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Van Wert High School Booster Club or Van Wert High School Band Parents.
