The Vantage Board of Education hired a new treasurer and also unanimously approved a retire-rehire contract with Superintendent Staci Kaufman during its February monthly meeting held Thursday.
Vantage board members unanimously approved a 2.5-year contract with Laura Peters, who replaces Lori Davis as Vantage treasurer. Peters, a graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School and Lima Technical College (now Rhodes State), has been assistant district treasurer for Delphos City Schools for the past 20 years.

Peters was at the board meeting with her family and was introduced by Kaufman. Davis was also employed as a consultant from March 1 through April 30 to assist Peters through the transition period.
“Vantage is a great place to work and a lot of that has been because of the great boards we have had over the years and all the support you give to the school,” Davis said. “I’m going to miss Vantage.”
The board also unanimously approved a 25-month retire-rehire contract with Kaufman that includes a reduced salary-benefits package, and also accepted her resignation, for purposes of retirement, effective June 30. The retire-rehire contract will give the Vantage board additional time to choose a replacement for Kaufman, as well as provide for a transition period.
Also Thursday, the board accepted the resignation of Connie Drake, Adult Education Health Care program instructor, effective Thursday, June 30, and appointed Kaufman as Vantage’s representative on the Putnam County Tax Incentive Review Council.
The board also approved the 2015-16 school calendar and a new of new and revised board policies recommended by NEOLA Inc., the consulting firm that handles such matters for all of the area school districts.
