Knights’ ‘D’ dominates in win over ‘Cats

SPENCERVILLE — The Crestview Lady Knights won going away against the Spencerville Lady Bearcats on Thursday to stay perfect in the Northwest Conference, as well as overall.

The Lady Knights used a tenacious defense to put away Spencerville, 51-17. With the win, Crestview is now 18-0 overall and 6-0 in the NWC. The Bearcats fall to 6-11 overall and 1-5 in league play.

The Knights shut out Spencerville in the first quarter and led 10-0 at the end of the first eight minutes of play. It was 26-8 at the half, while Crestview had a 25-point lead, 38-13, at the three-quarter mark.

The Lady Knights were led by Paige Motycka’s 10 points, while Mackenzie Riggenbach added 9 points, all on three-pointers, for Crestview. The Knights had nine players on the scoreboard in the game.

Katie Merriman led Spencerville with 6 points.
