Motycka, Morrow both score 1,000 points

Not one, but two Van Wert County girls’ basketball players hit the 1,000-point milestone during games played Tuesday night.
Van Wert’s Erin Morrow scored her 1,000th point against Bryan in a non-conference game in the Cougars’ Den. Morrow had 19 points in the game to lead all scorers, while Emma Kohn added 14 points and Phoebe Eutsler scored 12 points for the Lady Cougars. Brooke Vollmer and Alllye Minor were Bryan’s top scorers, with 8 points apiece.
Van Wert took a 12-point lead after the first eight minutes of play, outscoring the Lady Golden Bears 19-7 in the first quarter.
The Lady Cougars increased the lead to 24 points with 17-5 second-quarter run that put Van Wert up 36-12 at the half.
The Van Wert lead was 38 points, 58-20, at the three-quarter mark.
The Lady Cougars had six three-pointers in the game and were 14 of 19 from the free-throw line.
The win brings Van Wert’s record to 6-10, while the Golden Bears fall to 4-14 on the year.

At Crestview, Knight senior Lindsey Motycka reached the 1,000-point plateau as the Crestview girls’ basketball team pounded the Celina Lady Bulldogs 62-38 in non-conference action to win its 19th straight game without a loss.
Motycka scored 11 points in the game, while Brady Guest and Kennis Mercer led the team with 12 points apiece and Emily Bauer added 9 points for the Lady Knights.
Celina’s T Dennis led all scorers with 14 points, while J Berry added 13 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Crestview got out to an 11-point lead with a 15-4 first quarter and was up by 16 points, 35-19, at the half. The Lady Bulldogs shaved a point off that lead in the third quarter wit a 14-13 run, but the Knights outscored Celina 14-5 in the final stanza to run away with the win.
Crestview made 21 of 42 from the field (50 percent) and was 9 of 21 from three-point range (42.9 percent). The Lady Knights were 11 of 14 (78.6 percent) from the free-throw line.
Celina was 11 of 40 from the field (27.5 percent), and made 2 of 12 three-point attempts (16.7 percent). The Lady Bulldogs were 14 of 20 from the free-throw line (70 percent).
Crestview outrebounded the Bulldogs 28-21, while both teams had eight turnovers in the game.
