Drug search conducted at VW apartment

Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach reported that the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force and deputies from his office executed a search warrant at 1133 W. Main St., Apt. 3, in Van Wert this past Thursday.

Items seized from the home include hypodermic needles, a small amount of suspected heroin, a small amount of suspected prescription medication, gel caps containing a powdery substance, drug paraphernalia and several cell phones.

VW County Sheriff's Star 9-2014The investigation into reported activity at the apartment is continuing, and Sheriff Riggenbach indicated that charges could be filed in the future, although no one has been arrested at this point.

A nuisance abatement letter will also be sent to the owner of the apartment complex, the sheriff added, to make the property owner aware of alleged illegal activity on the premises.

The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force is comprised of officers from the Van Wert, Paulding and Allen County Sheriff’s Offices, Lima Police Department and several state and federal agencies.
