Louis James Ryan

Louis James Ryan, 99, of Convoy, died at 9:25 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born December 5, 1915, in Convoy, the son of Walter and Bessie (Baxter) Ryan, who both preceded him in death. On June 14, 1941, he married Eileen LouiseĀ  (Weck) Ryan, who died November 28, 1998.

American Flag for obituaries 6-2011Survivors include two sons, Jerry Ryan of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Kevin Ryan of Toledo; a daughter, Sharon (Tony) Van Hoozer of Carmel, Indiana; two sisters, Marilyn (Warren) Reed and Refa M. Mohr, both of Convoy; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A brother, James J. Ryan, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Countryside Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Van Wert County, with the Rev. Wayne Kargas officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy, with graveside military honors performed by the combined units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 3-7 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Preferred memorials: Countryside Chapel United Methodist Church or the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
