VW Marlins finish 14th in swim tourney

This past weekend the YMCA Marlins traveled to Bowling Green State University to compete in the Northwest Ohio YMCA Championships. The Marlins finished 14th out of 19 teams in the two-day event.

Eight and Under Boys team member Sam Houg was the highest team finisher in individual events with a third in the 25-yard backstroke, a fourth in the 25-yard freestyle, a sixth in the 50-yard freestyle and 13th place in the 25-yard breaststroke. As a team, the Marllins set a total of 57 new personal best times.

In 9-10 Girls, Laney Hargett made the most significant improvement by setting four PBs, dropping an impressive 21.53 seconds overall (-11.48 110 IM; -5.49 50 freestyle; -2.31 50 backstroke and -2.25 50 breaststroke). Leading the way by setting new PBs in all of their events were: Jamie Burenga (4); Marcus Freewalt (3); Laney Hargett (4); Katie McVaigh (4); Ian Rex (4); Jayden Welker (3) and Anna Wasson (3).
