Royal R. Stuckey, 87, of Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, died at 6:32 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born August 29, 1927, in Hoaglin Township, the son of Burl and Muriel (Crates) Stuckey, who both preceded him in death. Dorothy (Campbell) Stuckey, his wife of 59 years, survives.

American Flag for obituaries 6-2011Other survivors include a son, Robert (Norma) Stuckey of rural Ohio City; four grandchildren, Tina (Kevin) Smith, Erik Stuckey, Trisha (Carl Buckner) Stuckey, and Crystal (James) Schleeter; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Thelma Stahl and Dorothy Smith, also preceded him in death.

Bob was employed by Kennedy Manufacturing Company in Van Wert as a foreman and retired after 40 years of service. He also farmed for many years and was a musician for 25 years with the Singing Strings.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served between the end of World War II and the beginning of the Korean Conflict. He attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert and was a member of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in rural Van Wert County, with graveside military honors performed by the combined units of Legion Post 178 and VFW Post 5803.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 17, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Trinity Friends Church, the American Lung Association or a charity of donor’s choice.
