VWCS offer free developmental screening

Van Wert City Schools information

Van Wert City Schools will be offering a free developmental screening to children ages 3-5 who reside in the school district. The screening will be held Thursday, May 14, from noon to 6:30 p.m., and on Friday, May 15, from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Van Wert Early Childhood Center, 1120 Buckeye Drive (off Ervin Road).

The screening, which will include height, weight, hearing, vision, speech/language, fine motor, gross motor, cognition and social/emotional evaluation, will be conducted by Van Wert City Schools preschool staff and is open to any child who resides in the district, regardless of preschool choice for the coming school year.

Parents must have an appointment for the screening, which can be obtained by calling 419.238.0384, extension 1242.

To enter preschool for the following year, a child needs to be 3 years old by August 1 and not be going on to kindergarten (there is a separate screening for kindergarten children).
