Cleveland man dies in area traffic crash

PAULDING COUNTY — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred Thursday at approximately 7:22 p.m. on Ohio 49, near milepost 9 in Paulding County.

A 2003 Buick Regal LS, driven by Kimberly A. Staudt, 20, of Piqua, was traveling south on Ohio 49 when her vehicle drifted off of the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle traveled left of center and continued off the east edge of the roadway, where it struck a utility pole before coming to final rest.

The rear seat passenger, Manuel T. Robles Jr., 20, of Cleveland, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Paulding County Coroner’s Office due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Staudt and the front seat passenger, Anna V. Penny, 26 of Covington, sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

The Highway Patrol was also assisted on scene by Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Payne Fire and EMS, Antwerp EMS, Paulding County Prosecutor’s Office, Gideons Towing, American Electric Power, and Life Flight medical helicopter service.
