Local volunteers sought for GOBA event

The Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure is coming to Van Wert on Saturday, June 20, and the city is serving as the host community — where all 2,000-plus bicyclists register and spend all day Saturday — for this year’s excursion.

One of the many things local hosts are responsible for is operating an information booth at the campsite (the Van Wert County Fairgrounds). This is the place where participants come to learn more about the Van Wert area and what activities have been planned for the day.

Local groups are looking for volunteers to help staff the information booth for three-hour shifts beginning at noon through 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. The only qualifications are that people be friendly and have a good knowledge of Van Wert. There will be maps and handouts to distribute and those in the information booth will be responsible for answering basic questions and giving directions to GOBA riders.
