VWCT play heads to state competition
Van Wert Civic Theatre information
On June 6-7, the Ohio Community Theatre Association (OCTA) held its yearly Northwest Regional Festival and play competition. Community theatres from the region send 30-minute excerpts of their best to showcase and compete.

This year, OCTA Northwest chose Van Wert Civic Theatre’s production of Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar and Grille as one of three excerpts that will represent the region at the state event, Memorial Day weekend in Cincinnati.
In addition, the adjudicators awarded VWCT Excellence in Acting awards to Jamie Ream, Dan Hirn and Steve Lane, as well as a Merit in Acting award to Chris Lybold.
In addition, Amy Boley, George Dunster and Jack Boley were awarded an excellent award in set design and the cast received an excellent is costume design. Director George Dunster was awarded an Excellence in Directing award as well.
As a cast, Rainbow was honored to receive a coveted “Excellence in Ensemble” certificate. The excerpt was culled from a full-length play performed during VWCT’s regular 2014-2015 season.
