Lancer track teams do well at WT meet

HAVILAND — The Lincolnview track teams competed at the Wayne Trace Invitational on Friday night.

Despite the wind, rain, and cold, the Lancers were able to put together a great meet.  Kaylee Thatcher was named the girls’ meet MVP by winning the 100-meter hurdles, placing second in the 300-meter hurdles, and leading off the 4×100-meter relay that placed third.   The girls team was not able to catch Notre Dame Academy or Tinora, but placed third overall in the meet with 73 points.

Other event winners for the girls were freshmen Tori Abdul in the 200-meter dash and Crystal Protsman in the long jump.  Casey Patterson placed third in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the 100-meter dash.  Deneah Durst was second in the shot put.  The 4×100-meter and 4×200-meter relay teams both placed third and the 4×800-meter relay team was the fourth fastest in the meet.

The boys were led by Mac King’s first place finish in the 300-meter hurdles.  Austin Treesh placed second in the long jump.  Wes Collins placed third in the shot put.  Jack Frank placed sixth in the 400-meter dash, while Doug Hicks was sixth in the 300 hurdles and Tyler Kraner placed sixth in the high jump.  Ben Bilimek finished in fifth place in the 800-meter run.  The 4×200 relay team was third and the 4×400-meter relay squad was the third fastest in the meet.

“Both teams really responded under the conditions and competed with great intensity,” said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon. ” I really could not have asked more of them and this is definitely a great sign moving forward.

“Each team is starting to develop a mental toughness that will allow us to do some really exciting things as the season progresses,” he added.
