8U Dons win tourney

The Van Wert Dons 8 and under baseball team wrapped up another successful season on Sunday. The Dons defeated a tough Defiance team in the finals of the Middle Point Ballpark Festival. The Dons won two tournaments this summer, while finishing second in one tournament. 8U coach pitch baseball is very fast paced and competitive and is a growing sport in this area. The Dons team for next summer will be holding an open tryout Saturday, August 15, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at First Bank of Berne Field. Players must turn 9 after April 1, 2016.
