Anna Louise McOmber
Anna Louise McOmber, 90, of Van Wert, passed away peacefully at 10:17 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was the daughter of Ernest R. and Florence Edwards.
She married Donald B. McOmber, her high school sweetheart, on November 4, 1945, after his return from serving in the United States Air Force during World War II. The couple had two children, Beverly (John) Eichenlaub and Michael (Judy) McOmber of Van Wert County; two grandsons, Adam McOmber of Los Angeles, California, and Kory Hurless of Evansville, Indiana; and a great-grandson, Kaden Hurless. Other survivors include two brothers-in-law, Dean (Eleanor) McOmber of Van Wert and the Rev. Dr. William (Dorothy) McOmber of St. Marys; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Don, who died September 29, 2014; her parents; her only brother, Lloyd “Lum” Edwards; his wife, Nellie; a brother-in-law, Dale McOmber; his wife, Joan and their two daughters and one son; and another brother-in-law, Gerald McOmber.
Annie enjoyed serving as secretary of Crestview North Elementary School for 29 years. She was an active member of the former Calvary United Methodist Church in Van Wert, served as church treasurer for many years, was a faithful worker in the “Apple Dumpling Gang”, which supported Wee Care Day Care, and always worked at the Bread and Bowl Meals Ministry. As a present member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, folks enjoyed her German chocolate cake.
She and her husband enjoyed fishing in Canada for over 30 years, and were both avid sports fans for the Crestview Knights, the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State University Buckeyes football teams. She loved her family and especially cared for a little Chihuahua named “Emmie.”
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with Pastor Ron Lumm officiating. Burial will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. Friday, August 7, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials: Crestview Bible Board, Lincolnview Bible Board, Van Wert Cross Over the Hill or Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church.
