Sara L. Green
Sara L. Green, 73, of Van Wert, died at 8:47 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born October 5, 1941, in Van Wert, the daughter of John R. and Evelyn G. (Dickey) Agler, who both preceded her in death. On December 23, 1963, she married Earl F. Green, who survives in Van Wert.
Other surviving family members include two daughters, Vicki L. (Brent) Stevens of Constantine, Michigan, and Kristina L. (Matthew) Ward of Lima; a sister, Evelyn Joann Burleson of Cedar Lake, Michigan; two grandchildren, Ashley Alexic (Josh) Eby and Taylor Ann (Ben (Gudbrandson; and two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Emerson Eby.
Sara was a 1959 graduate of Van Wert High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1966 at Bowling Green State University. She was a member and former deaconess at First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert. She had been an elementary school teacher for over 34 years, with most of her years at Van Wert City School’s Franklin Elementary School. She had served as a board member of Wassenberg Art Center in Van Wert and was a member of the TWIG groups of Van Wert County Hospital, volunteering many hours at the hospital’s thrift shop. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, was active in the Ohio Education Association and the local teachers union.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 12, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Harold Shafer officiating. Calling hours are from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
