Device would aid stillborn babies’ families

VW independent/submitted information

Having a child stillborn is devastating, with the pain of letting go of a child so quickly after birth unimaginable.

A local family is seeking to raise funds for a CuddleCot™ by Flexmort® to be given to Van Wert County Hospital.

The CuddleCot™ is a cooled bassinet in which stillborn babies are placed, preventing the need for the child to be taken to and from the morgue repeatedly, and is the best solution for a grieving family at this point.

A GoFundMe account has been established in memory of Beau Flory, son of Eric and Kaila Flory, and is focused on funding a CuddleCot™ for the local hospital. The founders of the page believe very strongly that every birthing unit should be equipped with such a device. Unfortunately, the units, which cost $3,000, are expensive, and difficult for a single family to fund by itself.

Organizers are hoping that, with combined donations, the goal can be met and the transition for families of stillborn infants can be made smoother.

Those wanting to donate can do so at www.gofundme.com/rs2rqtym. For more information, contact Siobhan Marquardt at Siobhan.marquardt@gmail.com.
